Risingsun's Lugols 2.2% Iodine 25mg solution does not exceed the DEA Regulation of Iodine Crystals and Chemical Mixtures Containing Over 2.2 Percent Iodine (see 21 CFR Parts 1309 and 1310).
Risingsun's Lugols 2.2% iodine 6mg solution contains 2.2% elemental iodine crystals and additioanl potassium iodide over 4.8% provides additional iodide to achieve 25mg of iodine per drop. The elemental iodine used in Risingsun's iodine solutions is processed from potassium iodide that is extracted from ancient underground brine mines located in the United States. Iodide brine mining is the extraction of useful materials (elements, compounds) which are naturally dissolved in brine. Risingsun manufacturers over 20 different concentrations and iodine supplement solutions, the largest selection available.

All of Risingsun iodine supplements are hand-made in the United States. Iodine solutions such as the Lugol's are corrosive to metal and also are absorbed by plastics, so only glass is used in packaging of Risingsun's Iodine Supplements. Iodine solutions containing the elemental iodine are crossivie. Therefore, all Risingsun Iodine supplements are hand-made, no machines or automated equipment is used during any phase of the production or packaging of Risingsun Iodine Supplements. Risingsun is located in the great state of Montana in the city of Livingston, the original entrance to Yellowstone Park. The Yellowstone river runs through Livignston, it is un dammed and runs free. Just like the spirit of Montana and just like the ideals and philosophy of Risingsun.

Iodide is the only form of iodine found in nature. Iodide is the ionic state of iodine, occurring when iodine forms a salt with another element such as potassium. In this form, iodide can be ingested or applied topically. The potassium iodide used in Risingsun's Nascent Solution is extracted from an underground brine mine. Iodide brine mining is the extraction of useful materials (elements, compounds) which are naturally dissolved in brine and is the purest form of iodide. ACS grade is the purest and and is the only grade that tests less than 1ppm or less in heavy metal contaminants. ACS grade has a higher purity grade than USP or regent. Risingsun uses potassium iodide that is mined in the United States at a brine mine. Iodine from brine is the purest and made naturally by nature. We use the potassium iodide to make our elemental iodine crystals used in our Lugols and other red iodine solutions.
Non-Allergenic Ingredients
Iodine/Iodide are not considered to be an allergen (something that triggers an allergic response) since it occurs naturally in the body and is actually necessary for thyroid function. However, some medications, solutions, or concentrations that contain iodine may cause a person to have an allergic reaction. Risingsun iodine solutions contain iodine, potassium iodide and distilled water. Getting enough iodine is important for everyone, especially infants and women who are pregnant. One misconception is that some people have an allergy to iodine, this is false. "Iodine allergy" does not exist. The concept of "iodine allergy" should be abandoned since it may result in inappropriate measures such as drug, food or environmental eviction. Immediate or non-immediate allergic hypersensitivity to iodinated contrast media is not infrequent (Information from NIH - The National Institutes of Health). If the iodine drug or supplement utizes shellfish as a source, there can be an allergic reaction to the shellfish, not to the iodine. Some health practitioners misdiagnose iodine sensitivity as an iodine allergy, the symptoms can appear the same.

After passing in house inspection the iodine supplement is then sent to an independent lab where a COA (Certificate of Analysis) is performed to ensure purity, strength, identity, composition and safety. Lowest heavy metal content tested for iodine supplements of 1ppm (larts per million) or less
Heavy Metals tested for: The Resource Recovery and Conservation Act (RCRA) lists eight heavy metals which are commonly referred to as the RCRA 8 : Arsenic (As), Barium (Ba), Beryllium (Be), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Nickel (Ni), Selenium (Se), Silver (Ag). These eight metals are extremely toxic at even small concentrations. Heavy metals are now being found in USDA certified foods, vitamins, superfoods, herbs and dietary supplements at disturbing high levels. Neither the USDA nor the FDA have addressed this seriously growing issue by setting standards as to what limits are acceptable. Risingsun has taken steps to address heavy metal testing by implementing the most stringent tolerance for testing supplements at 1ppm (Part Per Million) or less.
Premium Quality Product Packaging
Risingsun takes pride in the iodine supplements it produces, and the packaging clearly shows that. Instead of inserting the dropper in the bottled iodine solution a black phenolic cap(lid) with a cone liner is affixed to the bottle to eliminate the iodine solution from evaporating; then a shrink band is applied to the cap(lid). The dropper and sealed bottle of iodine solution are inserted into a bubble bag then placed in a product box; shrink bands are then applied over the box. --- When droppers are placed in iodine solutions (red solutions), the iodine vapor stains anything that is stored next to the iodine solution and the vapor also hardens the dropper bulb so iodine can not be drawn into the dropper. Those that use lugols iodine or similar iodide solutions have experienced these issues.
